Print Specs & File Guidelines
To get the best results from your screen-printed order, follow these file preparation guidelines.
File Formats
- Preferred: Adobe Illustrator (.ai), PDF (vector)
- Accepted: EPS, SVG, high-res PNG (300+ DPI)
- Not accepted: JPEG, low-res images, Word docs
Resolution
- Vector files are always preferred — they scale perfectly
- Raster art must be 300 DPI minimum at full print size
- If your logo is only available as a small raster file, use our design service — Julio can redraw it
Colors
- Screen printing uses spot colors (not CMYK or RGB)
- Specify Pantone (PMS) color codes if possible
- Each color = one screen = one setup charge
- 1-2 colors: most cost-effective
- 3-5 colors: standard for detailed designs
- 6+ colors: possible but significantly more expensive
Print Locations
- Front Chest: up to 4" × 4" (left chest standard)
- Full Front: up to 12" × 14"
- Full Back: up to 12" × 14"
- Sleeve: up to 3.5" × 3.5"
- Each location = additional setup fee
Artwork Tips
- Convert all text to outlines / curves
- Remove all hidden layers and unused elements
- Use separate layers for each color
- Include a color callout sheet with PMS references
- Avoid gradients — screen printing works best with flat colors
Turnaround Times
- Standard: 5-7 business days after proof approval
- Rush: 2-3 business days (subject to availability + fee)
- Blank availability from S&S may add 3-5 days for uncommon styles
- Design service: 2-4 business days for initial proof
Minimums & Pricing
- Minimum order: 12 pieces per design/color combo
- Higher quantities = lower per-piece cost (see price break tiers)
- Setup fee per screen (per color per location) — one-time per design
- Reorders of the same design: no new setup fee if screens are on file
